History of Baseball:

Baseball at the professional level is the best-known of the family of related bat-and-ball games. Other present-day bat-and-ball games include softball, cricket, stickball, rounders, pesäpallo, punchball, kickball and British baseball. The distinct evolution of baseball from among these various bat-and-ball games is difficult to trace with any precision. But the game recognized as the first in U.S. history to be officially recorded took place on June 19, 1846, in Hoboken, New Jersey, with the New York Nine defeating the New York Knickerbockers, 23 to 1, in four innings. But it wasn’t until 1869, that the first fully professional baseball club, the Cincinnati Red Stockings, was formed and went undefeated against a schedule of semipro and amateur teams. By the following decade, American newspapers were referring to baseball as the National Pastime. Little Leagues:

Little League Baseball is a non-profit organization in the United States which organizes local children's leagues of baseball and softball throughout the USA and the rest of the world. The Little League was founded by Carl Stotz in 1939 as a three-team league in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The first Little League game took place on June 6, 1939. Lundy Lumber defeated Lycoming Dairy 23-8. In 1947 the first Little League World Series is held there in Williamsport. Then in 1957 Monterrey, Mexico became the first team from outside the United States to win the Little League World Series. Little League has grown from three teams in a small Pennsylvania town to an international organization of nearly 200,000 teams in every U.S. State and over 100 countries  around the world. According to the official web site, there are more than 2.3 million players in Little League worldwide, including 400,000 girls. The organization now has its headquarters in South Williamsport, directly across from the site of the original league. South Williamsport also hosts the Little League World Series.
