Storing your artificial tree after Christmas has ended may be a little tricky if you have never done it before, so it’s a good idea to think about that ahead of time before you actually tear your tree down for storage.
If by chance you remember to keep your original box that you purchased your artificial christmas tree in, then you may be able to store it inside there, but you need to account for the dust. Since cardboard boxes do not keep out dust you can try to protect your tree by covering it with a sheet or some type of plastic material to help keep your tree from attracting dust between the months that it will not be in use. When you store your tree during the off months of the holidays dust can settle inside the box it is stored in, and that can be difficult to clean off, depending on what type of environment it is in. So it is essential that you consider that before just throwing it inside of just any old box.
You can find some pretty nifty artificial christmas tree storage bags if you look to see what is out on the market. There are tree storage bags that come in various styles and sizes depending on your needs. These bags are made of durable materials and some are even water resistant. They allow you to break down the tree as you normally would and set all of your pieces inside before you zip it up and store it away until the following year. Some allow for upright storage and wheels for easy mobility or transport if necessary.
Another option for you may be to use multiple storage containers for your artificial tree if a storage bag is not the right option for you. You can purchase some larger scale plastic containers and divide up the tree sections into each one. The best thing to do is lay down your pieces and take some measurements to determine what the minimum lengths and widths will need to be. This will save you time in the long run. Making sure of the needed sizes before you spend the money will keep you from having to exchange them for larger size containers. You can purchase these containers at most home improvement stores. You will find specialty holiday storage containers available during the Christmas season that come in seasonal colors to decipher them between other containers you may already have.
Be sure to read all of the manufacturers accompanying instructions that come with your artificial tree. You want to be sure that you are storing it in the right way to preserve its integrity for many years to come. It would be terribly disappointing to pull out your tree after the off months and find it damaged, only to have to make an expensive investment all over again. Depending on what climate you live in, it may be difficult to store it in hot spots of your home; so take that into account before making a final decision on where you will leave it for the off season.
