History of Golf:
An urban legend about the meaning of golf is that it stands for Gentleman Only, Ladies Forbidden. But golf is first mentioned in a 1457 Scots statute on forbidden games. One of the earliest golf courses in the world may have been Bruntsfield Links, in the city of Edinburgh where Anytime Is Tee Time. A plaque erected by the City of Edinburgh suggests that the game of golf may have been invented at Bruntsfield Links. Playing the game of Golf:
In 15th century, golfers at St Andrews, established a customary route through the terrain, playing to holes whose locations were dictated by topography. The course that emerged featured eleven holes, laid out end to end from the clubhouse to the far end of the property. One played the holes out, turned around, and played the holes back in. A hole of golf consists of hitting a ball from a tee and once the ball comes to rest, hitting it again. This process is repeated until the ball is in the cup. The goal is to rest the ball to the cup in the fewest strokes possible.
