Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

If you have a difficult time thinking of new Christmas decorating ideas for yourself here are a few places or things you may like to try out to help broaden your creativity.

If you do not already have outdoor yard or lawn Christmas decorations you can easily start by just using some lights in your yard. You can cover the outside of your homes perimeter with lights in a specific color, then carry it on through to your entryways, walkways, bushes and trees and you will liven up your home with just the flick of a switch. The great part about outdoor lighting is that it’s easy to pull off if you are just starting out and then you can add more decorative pieces later on piece by piece.

Consider sprucing up some of your already existing decorations, like your Christmas wreath. When money is tight you can find ways to make your wreath look like a whole new purchase just by adding some additionally embellishments. Purchase ornamental pieces, berries, ribbons or any particular item that you may like. You can remove any old pieces from your wreath you no longer want on display and use a hot glue gun to adhere the new pieces to the top of your existing wreath and presto, you have a beautiful new looking wreath without the entire expense.

Christmas decorations and ideas can be found just about anywhere you look during the holidays; local specialty stores, malls, retail shops and my favorite one is the magazine stand in the grocery store check out line.

All types of decorations for Christmas are out on the market.  A majority of people choose specific items such as their Christmas tree, interior and exterior lights, swags of garland, figurines and wreaths. There are some staples that you might find in a majority of homes from people who celebrate the Christmas season. If you are still unsure on what items to buy, or where to place them here, we have a few ideas you can try:

Christmas wreaths:
Real evergreen pieces are shaped to form a wreath and adorned with fruits, berries or ornaments. Placing them on the entry way door will welcome guests.  Placing them on the rear side of the door will make your guests leave with the same warmth they were welcomed with.

Real vs. artificial has been the war of all times.  You can select an artificial tree for about the same cost as a couple of real trees and in more recent years you can hardly tell the difference until you are standing right in front of the tree and sometimes not even then. Unfortunately you do not have the beautiful real tree scent.

Figurines:
You can choose from any iconic figure or character as your decorations for Christmas, from Santa Claus, snowmen, reindeer, angels, or religious figures.  You can choose any number of different or similar items to decorate your home to can create a cohesive theme.

Anyone of these items will help decorate and spruce up your home; it’s all just part of the tradition of bringing holiday cheer to everyone around.

Wreaths Have Evolved to Suit Every Style

Monday, August 9th, 2010

Christmas wreaths have evolved into many different patterns, shapes, and bring joy to everyone who gets to admire your decorative choice. Since wreaths came into existence around the time period of the Persian Empire, they can be used in all sorts of different areas to decorate your home and don’t have to be limited to just the Christmas season.

Since green wreaths are generally the color of choice for the Christmas season, it might be a good idea to shop around for some colorful accented wreaths. You might consider some of the new contemporary wreaths out on the market; colored ball ornament wreaths, jingle bells or even die cuts embellishing the surface.

A more traditional look might be to purchase a wreath made entirely out of pine cones, or a plain evergreen wreath covered in holiday bows in traditional colors of green, red, and white or even a plaid pattern. Once you have selected your wreath, think about making it pop by adding some battery lights and your wreath will stand out.

Christmas wreaths can be placed all over your home and come to fit every budget.  Don’t limit wreath decorations to your front door; you can place wreaths over any door; on your mailbox,  the front façade of your garage or even your vehicle.  You can also create many arrangements with various wall-hanging wreaths, dining table centerpiece wreaths, or wreath candle holder’s to use all over the house.  Arrange them in spaces that might be lacking in décor, and you will be surprised at the warmth it adds to your home.
