Blue Christmas Tree Lights

blue Christmas tree lightsRed, white, and blue Christmas tree lights have been around for ages, but who created the very first strand of luminescence?

That would be none other than Thomas Edison himself, though it was not until 1880 that they were used for Christmas decorations. Two years later they were twinkling in the traditional pine or fir that adorned many living rooms during the holidays, and it wouldn’t be long until all colors including blue Christmas tree lights. Though the early strands were white lights, of course, an innovative man by the name of Edward Johnson created the very first strand of red, white and blue bulbs and used his indoor Christmas lights to brighten up his tree.  As popular as they were in the beginning, they did not become fashionable until about 40 years later. President Coolidge was the first president to ask his staff to adorn the outside of the White House with the wondrous, smile catching twinkling Christmas lights--and an American tradition was born. During the psychedelic times of the 60’s, blue lights gained tremendous popularity. They illuminated doorways and ceilings making them look more space aged. As each era came and went, these bulbs were transformed according to the latest technology and élan of the times. From the late 1800's to the present day, the metamorphosis of Christmas illumination has been absolutely astounding.

The actual size of the bulbs was much larger at their inception, especially when compared to the current sizes. They were, in fact, several inches long. They were almost too big for adorning that tall, living room centerpiece. At the time, that is all that was available. Using those bigger bulbs devoured a large amount of energy. The upside was a wonderland of illumination and creativity throughout neighborhoods all across the country as illuminated homes, Nativity scenes, and Santa Claus in poses galore exploded across the country.

Single-colored bulb sets gave way to multi-colored strands before circling back to the white that is so popular in today.  As time went on, the lights got smaller, and the smaller they became, the less energy they used.  Just recently, the larger sized bulbs have come back in style but new technology has kept the energy usage down. Multi-colored, white, and other single colored strands including blue Christmas tree lights provide an endless array of colors and styles that  blend seamlessly into any Christmas décor.

Manufacturers now produce LED lights to use for a multitude of occasions. They are now the most popular style that is made. The holiday season is, of course, when a majority of these strands are bought and used. You have many colors to choose from when buying these illuminating indoor or outdoor Christmas decorations. Different color combinations are available as well. You can purchase them in a variety of shapes and sizes to enhance any part of your home and yard. With LED’s you have several choices ranging from your classic flame-shaped bulb, all the way to your round, globe shaped covers.

Whether you wrap your entire real or artificial Christmas trees with dazzling lights or you are just using them as an accent and to compliment the other trimmings and ornamentations of your holiday décor, you cannot go wrong with choosing this color. People often will blend blue Christmas tree lights with other colors because they are not as bright. Others enjoy the tranquility and serenity it brings to a room, not unlike the feeling you get from a hot cup of mulled cider while sitting by the fireside.
