Collectible Christmas ornaments are a fabulous way to make your artificial Christmas tree more personalized. The typical collectable ornament is released from the manufacturer in a series. This can be a collection of characters (such as the cast from a cartoon movie), or it can be some type of theme (like nativity characters). These ornaments are usually finer in quality and come at a premium price. In most cases, the collectable series is exclusive and offered for a limited time, so trying to delay your purchase and wait for a discounted price may not pay off in this instance. Once they are gone, you will not longer be able to buy them. However, if you miss them, you can always try to find them on EBay. But you can’t count on that because most people do not part with their collection for many years.
Collectible Christmas ornaments are not restricted to large corporations like Hallmark or Disney. There are churches and neighborhood association groups that sell collectable ornaments for charity fund raisers. They generally make one ornament each year, and then a different one each following year. A popular idea, for example, is to sell the series of the 12 days of Christmas. The ornament sold each year, represents on of the 12 days, so it take 12 years to complete the collection. This is popular because the ornaments are one of a kind, and people become excited each year with the next addition to the set. Once all 12 are purchased, one will really have an exceptional collection.
Collectible Christmas ornaments actually don’t have to be bought in series either. Much like one might collect stamps, or coins, or anything else, a collector can decide for themselves what particular type of items they wish to collect. For example, if one were so daring, one could collect Christmas ornaments that are made exclusively of crystal and glass. The same can be said of wood, or metallic gold and silver, or cartoon, or sports, or western or religious trinkets. Collectible Christmas ornaments may simply be a collection of high quality, well made ornaments with attention to detail. Many high end ornaments are available each year that are annually exclusive to their maker and can be found at a Christmas Store near you or online. There are lighted ornaments with and entire winter scene encased in an acrylic ball. Some are available in an open ended sphere with moving items inside, such as a winter train circling a winter home in the forest, covered in snow with children playing in the snow outside. These animated ornaments can also be found in a ball that opens up to reveal the winter scene inside. Some of the higher end ornaments to collect may simply be a figurine with a lot of detail put into it. The possibilities are endless. Collectible Christmas ornaments may not necessarily be a collection of one theme, but may be several themes that go together. For example, you can have ornaments from all of the professional sports in your favorite city. You can have all the teams from, say, the city of Phoenix; Arizona Cardinals, Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Coyotes, Arizona Diamondbacks and Phoenix Mercury (women’s basketball). You can also collect a series of religious ornaments with scripture written on them. Some ornaments come adorned with pictures of religious paintings. However you choose to decorate, consider starting a collection of your own.
