History of Golf:

Modern day golf is generally accepted as having originated in Scotland. An urban legend about the meaning of golf is that it stands for Gentleman Only, Ladies Forbidden. But golf is first mentioned in a 1457 Scots statute on forbidden games, the word goulf meaning to strike or cuff. One of the earliest golf courses in the world may have been Bruntsfield Links, in the city of Edinburgh where Anytime is Tee Time which now boasts more than twenty-one courses. It is unclear when golf was first played in Edinburgh.  A plaque erected by the City of Edinburgh suggests that the game of golf may have been invented and first played on Bruntsfield Links. Golf is one of the few ball games which do not use a standardized playing area rather the game is played on golf courses. Golf is defined in the Rules of Golf as playing a ball with a club from the teeing ground into the hole by a stroke or successive strokes in accordance with the Rules.

Playing the game of Golf:

As early as the 15th century, golfers at St Andrews, in Fife, established a customary route through the terrain, playing to holes whose locations were dictated by topography. The course that emerged featured eleven holes, laid out end to end from the clubhouse to the far end of the property. One played the holes out, turned around, and played the holes in, for a total of 22 holes. In 1764, a couple of the holes were deemed too short, and were combined. So the number was reduced from 11 to nine, so that a complete round of the links comprised 18 holes. A hole of golf consists of hitting a ball from a tee and once the ball comes to rest, hitting it again. This process is repeated until the ball is in the cup or the hole. Once the ball is on the green, the ball is usually putted into the hole. The goal of resting the ball in the hole in as few strokes as possible may be impeded by hazards, such as bunkers and water hazards. There are other types of hazards such as at the 125-year-old Royal Colombo Golf Club in Sri Lanka steam trains run through the course at the 6th hole. In most typical forms of game-play, each player plays his or her ball from the tee until it is holed.

Golf Ornaments:

The definition of Christmas tree ornaments comes to us from the route word ornament which is defined as an accessory used to beautify, enrich, or improve the appearance or general effect of an object. So many golfers love to put up a variety of Sports Ornaments to embellish their tree.
