Many folks' Christmas décor gives a place of honor to a lighted manger scene. This is, of course, the reason why there is a Christmas season and many people believe that a lighted manger scene, or crèche, should be the focal point of their , rather than Santa, or real or artificial Christmas trees.
Over the years, people have found many fun and interesting ways to promote the Nativity. They have used live animals and instead of statues or Nativity figurines, they have incorporated actors and actresses to portray the various members of Joseph and Mary’s party at the stable that night. Of course this led to disputes over using live animals so many decided that a lighted manger scene that would illuminate statues that represent the characters would be a much better option. This also requires a lot less work and human involvement than having actual actors depict the story.
A Nativity scene tells the story of Joseph and Mary who were traveling and could not find room at an inn, even with the impending arrival of Mary’s baby. They were forced to seek shelter in a stable where Mary gave birth to the baby Jesus and laid him to rest in the feeding bin for animals which is known as a manger. This is one of the most important teachings that we can offer to our fellow human beings and this is a great way to tell the story. This allows children to learn that Christmas gifts and school vacation is not why we celebrate Christmas at all: instead it’s about the night that Jesus was born and what His life means to each and every one of us.
Some people will tell you that a lighted manger scene needs to remain as simple as possible in order to pay respect to the humble birth of the baby Jesus. For this reason, many nativity scenes only include the principle characters that are necessary to accurately portray the story. However, some would prefer to more accurately tell the story with the aid of using the animals that might have been present in and out of the stable that night along with the various different people that found their way to the birth of Jesus in the Bible. For this reason you will often see depictions of Christmas angels, Wise Men, shepherds and a variety of different types of animals that would have been present that night so long ago.
A lighted Nativity scene that tells the story is worth a thousand words. Sometimes you have to see something to fully contemplate its meaning and this is true with the Nativity. A crèche brings the story to life in a way that mere words just cannot express. Nativity ornaments and decorations also make great Christian gift ideas.
Many cultures also believe that the nativity scene should not include the Baby Jesus until Christmas Day. This is done to show that this is the day that the baby has been born and tells the story exactly as it happened. The celebration then begins and the festivities of the Twelve Days of Christmas commences. Though no holiday season is complete without unique and personal Christmas ornaments, a lighted manger scene reminds us of the depths of meaning found in the Infancy Narratives and is the focal point of their Christmas decorations for believers.
