Nothing on earth gives more meaning to Christmas than beholding lighted Nativity scenes. The story of the birth of Jesus Christ is told in many different ways during the Christmas season but lighted Nativity scenes tell the story of this blessed birth without the need for words or any type of narration.
Sometimes these traditional Christmas decorations may include just the principle figures such as Jesus’ mother, Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus, though many include camels, donkeys, the three Wise Men, shepherds, angels, cattle and sheep. As you gaze upon these lighted figurines you will see a bright and gleaming reminder of the reason for the Christmas season.
Sometimes these beautiful Nativity figurines are the focal point of a lawn, standing independently, and sometimes they have a place of honor under the Christmas tree, artificial or real. More ornate depictions will add the enclosure around the Nativity scene to mimic the look of a stable complete with hay. Baby Jesus is often illuminated brightly lying in his crib which was actually a manger or crèche which is the German translation word for crib. The manger, of course, was the feed box the animals ate from.
Christmas is the perfect time to remind people about the history of the birth of Jesus and to teach young people the story. There is no better way to illustrate this than by offering lighted Nativity scenes as a tool with which to teach the story.
A Nativity set can consist of figurines that have spotlights shining on them but a more traditional source of Nativity scenes in recent years involves the figurines being lighted from within by small electric or battery powered lights. This makes it much easier to see once the sun has set and the glow this type of a Nativity scene gives off seems to be fitting for the magnitude of the important story it is portraying.
Some lighted Nativity scenes also incorporate a lighted Christmas star that is used to help tell the story and the importance of the star in guiding the Wise Men to the manger. The Christmas angels who preside over the birth are often glowing with a bright halo and a bright aura which is used to represent love and peace as the baby is born.
Because the entire reason there is a Christmas season surrounds the birth of Christ, a Nativity scene is the center focal point of any Christmas décor whether it is on the front lawn of a church or in your next door neighbor’s yard. There are many reasons why people may want to include a Nativity scene among their Christmas decorations but only one reason why there is a Christmas season to celebrate.
The Nativity story is foremost among Christmas writings that are read by families worldwide every Christmas, but you would be hard pressed to find another set of figurines that can properly tell a story without any oral communication necessary whatsoever. However, this is the case with a lighted Nativity scenes. Its message is clear and the story is one of love, peace and happiness. The holiday just would not be complete without a Christmas Nativity scene and one that is lighted just reveals the deeper meanings of the Nativity.
