Did you know that the newest style of Artificial Prelit Christmas Trees today were produced first in the 60’s and 70’s. Unfortunately back then the artificial trees had a wood pole as a trunk and each branch had to be put into a drilled out hole. CHRISTMAS RECIPE
Starting your holiday baking early will allow you more free time as the holidays draw near. You can prepare these cookies now and freeze them till you are ready to bake them.
Chocolate Refrigerator Cookies Recipe.
Makes 6 dozen Christmas cookies.
Ingredients:
1 Cups of soft shortening.
½ Cup sugar
½ Cup brown sugar (pack down firmly)
2 Squares unsweetened chocolate (2oz.) melted and cooled.
2 Eggs
Mix these ingredients together thoroughly.
Sift the following ingredients together and stir in.
2 ¾ Cups of Flour
½ Teaspoon of baking soda
1 Teaspoon salt
¾ Teaspoon vanilla
1 Cup chopped nuts
Press and mold into 2 smooth rolls about 2 inches in diameter. Wrap in waxed paper then chill. With a thin knife cut the bar into thin slices 1/8 inches thick. Place cut slices a little apart on un-greased baking sheet. Heat your oven to 380 degrees. Bake the cookies for 6 to 8 minutes or until lightly browned on top.
To freeze for later use:
Wrap the tubes in aluminum foil or freezer plastic wrap so they are airtight. Place your chocolate refrigerator cookies into the freezer until the holidays. Place one in the refrigerator if you just have to bake some to snack on. When you are ready to bake the frozen Christmas holiday cookies thaw them.
Congratulations you have one holiday project completed early.
