A beautiful outdoor Christmas décor spreads some Christmas cheer and puts a smile on the face of all your friends, family and neighbors. Decorating your home is a great way to do something with the kids. Have your camera ready, because funny and wonderful memories are bound to happen. Once your Christmas yard decorations are up, there’s something special about pulling up in your driveway after a hard day at work. Christmas cheer can be expressed with festive door decorations. You can embellish entrances with lush green garland, trimmed with sparkling ornaments and plenty of glittering ersatz flowers. Add to the appeal with a smattering of dazzling ribbons.
The entrance to your home is the first thing a guest sees so outdoor Christmas décor in the entry way will make it inviting. It gives them their first impression of what is in store when they enter your home. For elegance, mix silver and gold ribbons, gold Christmas ornaments, bright red poinsettias in with the green trim around your entryway. The main greens of choice are garland, Christmas wreaths, holly leaves, balsam, white pine, red cedar and Douglas fir.
Use outdoor Christmas décor on your sidewalks and driveways. There are many types of luminous items to highlight the front of your home. Light up empty milk cartons with LED bulbs or place strings of light in paper bags filled with sand. These floor lighting ideas bring a softer glow to your front yard, along with or instead of bright flashing lights. Decorate your garage door with lights or green boughs. Numerous, long cedar branches tied together with red poinsettia and green foliage make a bright composition, or you can crown it with a bow fashioned with a red satin ribbon.
If you have small to medium trees, then you have a perfect opportunity to use them for your outdoor Christmas décor. Trim the trees on your lawn by weaving silver or gold garland studded with lights and bows to accentuate the trees' branches. Run an outdoor electrical cord to these areas to eliminate the risk of electrocution.
Enhance your gate or fence. Hang faux pine wreaths or those you can make from left over tree branches at the posts. LED lights will enhance the wreaths, especially if you use green lights in the pine areas and red in the bow and poinsettia area. Large sized wooden soldiers or nutcrackers (3 to 4 feet tall) placed strategically near the gate as peace-guards, bring a royal brilliance to the theme, capturing the imagination of all who enter.
When planning your outdoor Christmas décor, it’s very important to stick to a theme. So keep Christmas yard decorations uncomplicated. To help minimize the number of large yard figures, carefully plan your layout ahead of time. You can then choose a theme and try and stay consistent with it. It looks disorderly to mix various Christmas themes in a yard, and gaudy to place too many figures in one area. Therefore, stick to one theme, accent it with lights, and your yard will be admirable.
