History of Candles and Battery Candles:
Candles have been used as a source of light for thousands of years. In Europe they usually used tallow, which is a byproduct of fat from beef, but in the Middle East and Egypt they mostly used beeswax. As with any important industry it becomes specialized and then only certain people can make that item, in this case a chandler was someone who made and sold candles. The word candle that we use today comes from the Latin word candere, which means to flicker. Many industries rise and fall, and as candle making had risen for a very long time, it was due to be replaced, this time with kerosene. So candles that had been used for thousands of years was slowly or quickly, depending on where you lived, moving to just a small niche market, because of the electric bulb.
Modern Candles Uses and Electricity:
Often times today candles are only used for romantic sittings, or for aromatherapy, and of course for many religious services and certain other celebrations. They also seem to go back to their original use when people lose their power, once more giving light and some warmth to families and individuals. The major drawback of candles though is the flame. Today they are a major cause of household fires. It could be that today people just forget to put the flame out, you can fall asleep with the electric Battery Candles on and it wont start a fire, but if you fall asleep with a candle still burning is just might cause one! Todays Battery Operated Candles are also better than in previous ages, typically being made of resin which can burn longer than previous candles. Flameless Candles:
As many fire codes now prevented open flame candles for some services, people have turned to battery powered candles or flameless candles, to take the place of traditional candles. The early battery operated candles, like the Set Of Two Battery Candles used a regular incandescent bulb, but there was no open flame. But the most recent type is the LED flameless candle, like the Battery Operated Candles With Batteries. These bulbs are cool to the touch, perfect children or anyone else for that matter. They are available in different color flames, they can also be a steady light or they can flicker like a real flame. These have become very popular over the last few years with churches, schools and neighborhood vigils or simple gatherings. Small Flickering Votive LED Battery Powered Candles have also become very popular in replacing candles in small places. In todays market you can even get scented flameless candles like a 3X6 Vanilla Scented Battery Wax Candles or ones that appear to have wax dripping from them like the Soft Realistic LED Unique Flameless Candles With Dripping Wax or the 4X6 Resin Dripping Wax Flameless Candles.
