Snowmen
There are many reasons why snowmen are particularly beloved, but one old legend explains why children are especially fond of them. Did you know that our snowy friends dance and that, only children are able to see them? After a snowman has been built and left alone outdoors in the frigid air, he begins to come to life! The snowman dances to amuse and captivate the children who watch, for it brings happiness to his rather short life. So during Christmas, if your children seem to be staring out the window in a daze, do not worry, most likely a dancing snowman is entertaining them. A Very Special Santa
December 6th is celebrated throughout different parts of Europe as St. Nicholas’ Day. This holiday honors Nikolaus of Myra, a bishop and popular saint who died on this day. It is told that on the eve of St. Nicholas’ Day, St. Nicholas would visit all the children, leaving the good children presents and the naughty children a lump of coal. We should all strive to be nice! Select this link to view our Unique Christmas Ornaments.
Christmas Tree
The Christmas tree originated in Germany in the 1800’s. For many it is the focal point of their Christmas decorations and festivities. Originally in the Old World, Europeans adorned their trees with cookies, fruits and candles. In the 1850’s, German craftsmen perfected the art of glass blown ornaments and soon Christmas trees shimmered with beautiful glass ornaments. Today’s modern Christmas tree holds lights and ornaments of all varieties and all colors of the spectrum while beneath it are wondrous gifts. A symbol of triumph over winter’s bitter cold, the Christmas evergreen has long inspired hope in the hearts of mankind. Select this link to view our Miniature Ornaments.
