Santa’s Letters Clothtique Possible Dreams.

Our Price: $94.71

This 2-piece set shows a Santa’s Letters Clothtique Possible Dreams Santa scene. Here we have Santa reading letters from children and writing their names and wish’s for Christmas in his book. On the table in front of him is an ink well and candle (the candle lights up) and of course the letters from children. Next to the table is a brown U.S. Mail satchel (inside is a battery holder to power the candle). To view our full line of battery operated candles select this link Battery Operated Candles. On the mailbag side of the table is the on/off switch for the candle. Santa is smoking a pipe while holding a quill pen in his right hand. He is wearing a red shirt with gold cufflinks and red knickerbockers with tassels hanging on them just below the knee and a brown vest. He also has red sox and red slipper shoes that have a gold trim on them.

Old world magic blends with new technological expertise in porcelain, cloth and other materials to create the magic of Clothtique Possible Dreams Santa. The earliest records of a technique similar to Clothtique can be traced to southern Europe. Our search for just the right compounds and elements to complement the artistic sensibilities expressed in Clothtique figurines brought us to this ancient process. Extensive research allows us to trace the history of each piece to assure total authenticity. Intricate detailing, inspired brushwork and realistic accessories are blended to create a truly one-of-a-kind collectible. This is the mystery, the charm, the feel that Clothtique brings to every creation. And the memories that it will bring to you for years to come. Select this link to view our Christmas Figurines.

History of Knickerbockers
The term "Knickerbockers" traces its origin back to the Dutch settlers who came to the New World -- and especially to what is now New York -- in the 1600s. Specifically, it refers to the style of breeches the settlers wore that buckled just below the knee, which became known as "Knickerbockers," or "knickers". The term came from the fictional author of Washington Irving's History of New York, (published 1809), Diedrich Knickerbocker, an old-fashioned Dutch New Yorker in Irving's satire of chatty and officious local history. In fact, Washington Irving had a real friend named Herman Knickerbocker, whose name he borrowed. And the upstate Knickerbocker clan have all descended from a single immigrant ancestor, Harmen Jansen van Wye, who invented the name upon arriving in New Amsterdam and signed a document with a variant of it in 1682. After Irving's History, by 1831, "Knickerbocker" had become a local bye-word for quaint Dutch-descended New Yorkers, with their old-fashioned ways and their long-stemmed pipes and knee-breeches long after the fashion had turned to trousers. History of the Modern American Santa Claus.
Born in the United States of mixed ethnic and religious heritage, Santa Claus embodies the American ideal of the nation as a great melting pot of cultural identities. Santa Claus became an important folk figure in the second half of the nineteenth century, about the time when Americans were beginning to celebrate Christmas in large numbers. Santa Claus bears a good deal of resemblance to his closest relative, the old European gift bringer St. Nicholas. Indeed “St. Nick” serves as one of Santa’s nicknames. Many popular songs tell of his North Pole and Christmas Eve activities. Nearly every American child can tell you that Santa is a plump, old man with a white beard who wears a baggy red suit and cap trimmed with white fur. Many send letters to his North Pole workshop describing the gifts they would like to receive for Christmas. They eagerly await Christmas Eve, when he loads his sled with toys for good girls and boys and flies around the world, sliding down chimneys to place the presents under decorated Christmas trees. As if to confirm this Christmas fairy tale, men in Santa suits regularly appear on street corners, at office parties, and in department and toy stores around Christmas time.
