Cross Information.
A cross is a geometrical figure consisting of two lines or bars perpendicular to each other, dividing one or two of the lines in half. The lines usually run vertically and horizontally. If they run diagonally, the design is technically termed a saltire. Select this link to view our Gold Ornament and Red Christmas Ornaments.
The cross is one of the most ancient symbols and is used by many religions, mostly Christian. It is frequently a representation of the division of the world into four elements or alternately as the union of the concepts of divinity, the vertical line and the world, the horizontal line. It isn’t known when the first cross image was made. The use of crosses as a symbol has been found in early Celtic cultures. For example, Celtic coins minted many centuries before the Christian era may have an entire side showing a cross. Other coins show the cross held by a rider on a horse or with a fern leaf which was sometimes used as a symbol of the tree of life. Select this link to view our Filigree Cross.

The Wooden Church Crusade
When Germany was divided after World War ll, Baron Henning Von Royk-Lewinski and Richard Kinzer, the former president of Burlington Mills, founded the Wooden Church Crusade, a charitable organization established to build churches in war torn areas of West Germany. It was their goal to build as many churches as there were American States at that time and when completed their efforts resulted in more than 25 churches being built. They wanted the ringing of the bells in these churches to be a reminder to everyone in the Western communities that with God came peace, and the bells would also toll loudly enough to give those across the Eastern border hope for such peace. Every church has become a symbol for the solidarity between the United States of America and former Western Germany in the fight against communism and the fight for peace.
