Flamingos start breeding May and June in swamps, shallow ponds and lagoons. They make their nest out of mud that is built in shallow water. The male and female flamingos take turn sitting on the nest and they usually hatch after 28 days. People usually see the pink flamingo bird at the zoo and not in the wild.
