These Gold Mesh Ornaments
are 5 inch tall and 4 inches across. The Gold Ornament and Red Christmas Ornaments are made from very ornately twisted and scrolled gold metal, in a cross like shape with five gold glittered ovals. The ovals from these Unique Christmas Ornaments are set on gold mesh. There is one large one in the center and a smaller one near the center of each arm of the cross like shape. The same pattern and decoration exists on both sides of the ornament. Select to see a complete listing of our Christmas Decorations Ideas.
Gold.
Gold is the most malleable and ductile metal. A single gram can be beaten into a sheet of one square meter, or an ounce into 300 square feet. Gold leaf can be beaten thin enough to become translucent. The transmitted light appears greenish blue, because gold strongly reflects yellow and red.
Gold readily forms alloys with many other metals. These alloys can be produced to increase the hardness or to create exotic colors. Gold is a good conductor of heat and electricity, and is not affected by air and most reagents. Heat, moisture, oxygen, and most corrosive agents have very little chemical effect on gold, making it well suited for use in coins and jewelry. Select this link to view our Snowflake Ornament.
Gold flake was used by the nobility in Medieval Europe as a decoration in foodstuffs and drinks, in the form of leafs, flakes or dust, either to demonstrate the host's wealth or in the belief that something that valuable and rare must be beneficial for one's health. Gold can be made into thread and used in embroidery. Gold is ductile and malleable, meaning it can be drawn into very thin wire and can be beaten into very thin sheets known as gold leaf. Select this link to view our Crystal Angel.
Like other precious metals, gold is measured by troy weight and by grams. When it is alloyed with other metals the term carat or karat is used to indicate the amount of gold present, with 24 karats being pure gold and lower ratings proportionally less. Select this link to view our Praying Angels.
The price of gold is determined on the open market, but a procedure known as the Gold Fixing in London, originating in September 1919, provides a daily benchmark figure to the industry. The afternoon fixing appeared in 1968 to fix a price when US markets are open. The high price of gold is due to its rare amount. Only three parts out of every billion in the Earth's crust is gold. Caring for your Christmas Ornaments.
To care for and protect your Christmas ornaments for years to come, please be mindful of the following suggestions. Wrap your ornaments individually in 24 Anti Tarnish Tissue Paper Sheets and pack your ornaments securely in one of our sturdy Ornament Storage Boxes, making sure not to place too many layers in a single box. One layer is ideal. The box should be very sturdy and made of paper. Plastic bubble wrap and or plastic storage containers do not allow the ornaments to have proper ventilation. Particularly if the ornaments are stored in a warm place like an attic, or in a humid place like a basement. Also be sure to take care to store your holiday ornaments in a safe, dry place away from water, sun or fluorescent lights and other outside elements. Check out all of our Glass Ornaments.
