- The punt is a kick made by dropping the ball and kicking it before it can touch the ground. It is used to force the opposing team back into its own territory. Punts are usually aimed to go out of bounds near the goal line of the opposing team.

- The place kick is made by kicking a ball held on the ground. It is used to score field goals and points after a touchdown. The kicker tries to aim the ball over the goal post between the uprights.
- The Drop Kick.
