Santa Elf History:
A fairy is a little imaginary creature who liked to meddle in the affairs of men. Long before people learned to read and write they knew the lives and habits of these little beings. Fairy tricks and doings explained many things that could not be understood in any other way. Fairies were believed to have magical powers but they used them for little things. Like making small toys and gifts for children as Santa‘s elves do today. Pixies are one form of the fairy family. Pixies are said to have lived in England. At night they danced in fairy rings to the music of crickets and grasshoppers. They lived only in houses with human beings and they wanted the floors to be spick and span. The good servant always left a bowl of water by the fire for them because they loved water. The custom of leaving milk and cookies on Christmas eve may have been influenced by their practice.
