Sitting Snowman Snow Globe.

Our Price: $7.87

This Snowman Snow Globe stands about 3 inches high and about 3 ½ inches long. He is sitting down holding the globe with his red mitten hands as it rests o his tummy. He has a matching red stocking cap with a light blue snowball on the end of it. Our Snowman is also wearing a green and blue striped scarf with yellow tassels on it. He has a happy smile and pink cheeks with the traditional carrot nose and black eyes. The globe has a Christmas tree in it that is all decorated and even has a gold star atop it. This tree also has one present still unopened sitting next to it. A simple shake will cause the snow in the globe to whirl around the gifts as if in a snowstorm. Snowman Information.
Long ago, when toys were scarce and the closest neighbors could be miles away, children looked forward to the year’s first snowfall with great anticipation. This wonderful gift from heaven afforded them a chance to go sledding, but even more exciting, it gave them the opportunity to create a new companion, their very own snowman! Each of the jolly fellows had its own distinct expression and life expectancy. With a carrot from the pantry, coal from the furnace, twigs from the yard, an old hat and sometimes a pipe borrowed from Grandfather, a child would magically build a snowman. Their man of snow would disappear when the weather warmed, but lived on in childhood memories. Select this link to view our Christmas Snowman Gifts.

Our snowy friends dance and that only children are able to see them. After a snowman has been built and left alone outdoors in the frigid air, he begins to come to life! The snowman dances to amuse and captivate the children who watch, for it brings happiness to his rather short life. So during Christmas, if your children seem to be staring out the window in a daze, do not worry, most likely a dancing snowman is entertaining them.

During the winter months, the snowman stands in the garden with his heart full of joy and snowflakes dancing around him. Children, dressed in warm winter jackets and thick wooly hats, laugh and throw snowballs. The snowman is the center of fun and games. Unfortunately, winter ends, and spring arrives again. The children begin to desire the warm summer sun and hardly pay attention to the snowman. His heart becomes sad, and tears begin to roll down his cheeks. Soon, the tears gradually dry up. The next day, the snowman will disappear from the garden. Select this link to view our Christmas Figurines.

Snow Globes
A snow globe is a transparent sphere usually made of glass enclosing a miniaturized scene of some sort, often together with a model of a landscape. The sphere also encloses the water in the globe; the water serves as the medium through which the "snow" falls. To activate the snow, the globe is physically shaken to churn up the white particles. The globe is then placed back in its position and the flakes fall down slowly through the water. Select this link to view our Snowman Christmas Figurines.

Production of Snow Globes
Initially snow globes consisted of a heavy lead glass dome which was placed over a ceramic figure or tableau on a black cast ceramic base, filled with water and then sealed. The snow was created by use of bone chips or pieces of porcelain, sand or even sawdust. As they became more sophisticated, the glass became thinner, the bases were lighter (Bakelite was popular during the Art Deco period) and the snow was made out of particles of gold foil or non-soluble soap flakes although nowadays, for health and safety reasons, small pieces of white plastic are used. Today's snow globes can include music boxes, moving parts, internal lights, and even electric motors that make the "snow" move so that it is no longer necessary to shake the globe. Some also have central slots for positioning items such as photographs. Select this link to view our Unique Christmas Ornaments.
