This cute Fuzzy Snowman is about 7 inches tall. He has a blue stocking cap with a white pom-pom at the end and copper colored trim. This fuzzy also has matching blue mittens with copper colored trim. To help keep warm from the winter chill he is wearing his red and green Christmas scarf. And as with most snowmen, he has black boots and the traditional carrot nose. Long ago, when toys were scarce and the closest neighbors could be miles away, children looked forward to the year’s first snowfall with great anticipation. This wonderful gift from heaven afforded them a chance to go sledding, but even more exciting, it gave them the opportunity to create a new companion, their very own snowman! Each of the jolly fellows had its own distinct expression and life expectancy. Our snowy friends dance and that only children are able to see them. After a snowman has been built and left alone outdoors in the frigid air, he begins to come to life! The snowman dances to amuse and captivate the children who watch, for it brings happiness to his rather short life. During the winter months, the snowman stands in the garden with his heart full of joy and snowflakes dancing around him. Candy Cane History.
The candy cane to many is a delicious Christmas treat. Centuries ago, a simple candy maker needed to create a perfect gift for the King. The candy was shaped into an upside down “J” in order to represent the Good Shepherd’s staff. However, the candy maker wanted it to mean more. He added white and red stripes. The white represented the birth of Christ and the red would stand for the blood Jesus shed. The candy maker knew this would be he most perfect gift the King had ever received. Holly, with its red berries, dark glossy green leaves, and thorny tips was a symbol of life in the bleak chill of winter. The bright colors of the holly made is a natural symbol of rebirth and life in the winter whiteness of northern Europe. The appearance of the flaming red holly berries opened the season of feasting and good cheer. Also, in late December, German villagers would traditionally place holly around the interior of their dwellings to ward off bad winter weather and unwanted spirits. In early years, Father Christmas often decorated his hood with holly, which represented the crown of thorns that Jesus wore when he was crucified, and the red berries were symbolic of the blood he shed.
