Black Lab Howling Dog Ornament.
Item Number: AQ31 48876D
Black Lab Howling Dog Ornament.

Our Price: $5.89

These Black Lab Howling Dog Ornaments Are 4 1/2 inches tall, 2 1/2 inches wide, and are attached to a red cord approximately 3 inches long (7 1/2 - 8 inches from tip of string to end of tail when hanging). These black lab ornaments are black with a gold halo and white angel wings. The black lab is holding his bone, with the words, "Bark! The herald angels sing ...," with his front paws. The white feathered angel wings are sprinkled with iridescent glitter snow. The gold wire halo floats gracefully over the black lab's head.

History of the Labrador Retriever
A sporting dog, the Labrador Retriever is well known for their gentle disposition as pets, and seamlessly unending supply of energy on hunts! Also known as the “St. John’s dog” or “Lesser Newfoundland dog,” in the 1800’s, it is believed that they acquired their name from the area of Labrador, which happens to be just north of Newfoundland (Englishmen commonly referred to both areas with the same name in that time). Labs can be black, chocolate or yellow, with chocolate and yellow being the recessive gene colors. For many years breeders specifically opted to breed for the black labs. Labs have been known to overwork themselves, if not kept from it, on hunts, so hunters must keep a close eye on their performance to ensure these dogs do not overly exhaust themselves. It is not uncommon for these dogs to spend the day on a hunt and then return home to play with the children.

The Dogs Senses
As far as the sense of smell and hearing go, dogs have abilities far beyond that of man. Some can smell the faintest of an odor from a person on an object and others can catch scents that are days old. It is for these reasons that dogs are naturally capable of helping hunters and law enforcement officials. Both senses can help hunters locate both animals and kills in much less time than a human could expect to alone. Likewise these senses come in handy for law enforcement officials who are tracking predators or attempting to locate objects or people. Their vision, however, is not as good as that of humans as they have a hard time distinguishing colors. Due to a variance in the lens in their eye, though, they can see a little bit better in low light situations.
