Formation of Snowflakes.
A snowflake consists of up to 100 snow crystals clumped together. Snow crystals grow from water vapor, the evaporated form of water, in clouds. Amazingly Enough, all of the billions of snow crystals in existence have 6 sides and grow in either plate like or columnar patterns, depending on the air temperature and the amount of moisture present. Plate like snow crystals appear as flat, six sided plates. In cold, humid air, they grow in the shape of 6 pointed stars. Columnar snow crystals resemble long needles of ice. However, high humidity may cause them to become hollow columns. Some snowflakes have been known to measure 4 inches in diameter! There are 2 ways that we get pictures and information about snowflakes to make beautiful Christmas ornament snowflakes. Snowflakes can be caught on a black surface and looked at with a microscope. Snowflakes can also be made to fall into a plastic solution which coats the snowflake and hardens quickly. As the flake melts, it leaves a hollow shell, or cast, which retains the exact shape of the flake. Select this link to view our Christmas Ornaments.

The Icicle.
It is said that one winter a little child was wandering in the forest during a terrible snowstorm. A gentle fir tree welcomed the child into its branches and sheltered the child through the night. In the morning, the child was very grateful and thanked the tree many times for its shelter. After the child left, the tree learned that the child was a Christkind, an innocent child of Christ. Proud of its act, the tree wept with joy. Icicles formed and glistened beautifully in the sun. Icicles symbolize the strength of winter and the brilliance of a good deed. History of Candles
For many thousands of years candles were the primary source of light for humans, but now they are mainly used for decorative purposes and as part of the ceremonies of some religious events. The humble candle is its own complete lighting plant, which is very simple, it’s portable, and it can be stored indefinitely. Ancient candles were made of fats wrapped in a husk or mosses were used long before the time of Christ. The outside wrapping itself served as the wick. Later, candle-makers placed the wick inside a mold they had made. Tallow and beeswax were then melted and poured into the pre-made molds to form the finished candle. Most candles today are made from stearin, this is obtained from tallow, and paraffin, which is a mineral wax. The candles are then formed by dipping the wick many times into the melted wax or by pouring into molds, or by forcing the candle material through holes and then pulling the wick down the center, these wicks are made of a woven type cord. Angels
Angels are Immortal spirits that appear to mankind at important moments. They appear to man as messengers of god, bringing messages of comfort, warnings, tests of belief and deliverance. They are also bringers of peace and goodwill. The New Testament tells how the Angel of the Lord appeared to the shepherds keeping watch over their flocks to bring them good tidings of great joy, the Birth of Christ, and the multitude of angels proclaimed, Glory to God in the highest and on earth, peace, goodwill toward men. Everyone has a guardian angel watching over and providing protection from harm. Spreading their loving wings, guardian angels escort us all securely through life. They help lessen our fears and misery, allowing us to be optimistic about whatever the future brings. Select this link to view our Snowman Ornaments.
