Caring for your Christmas Ornaments.
To care for and protect your Christmas ornaments for years to come, please be mindful of the following suggestions. Wrap your ornaments individually in 24 Anti Tarnish Tissue Paper Sheets and pack your ornaments securely in one of our sturdy Ornament Storage Boxes, making sure not to place too many layers in a single box. One layer is ideal. The box should be very sturdy and made of paper. Plastic bubble wrap and or plastic storage containers do not allow the ornaments to have proper ventilation. Particularly if the ornaments are stored in a warm place like an attic, or in a humid place like a basement. Also be sure to take care to store your holiday ornaments in a safe, dry place away from water, sun or fluorescent lights and other outside elements. Check out all of our Glass Ornaments.
St. Nikolaus and the Meaning of Christmas.
How do children learn the true spirit and meaning of Christmas? It is not just by observing acts of charity once a year, but through a lifetime of lessons taught by parents and respected elders. Christmas should be celebrated in our hearts and minds all year long.
St. Nikolaus, a benevolent man of God, felt it was important for children to learn the meaning of Christmas; so he carefully chose nine symbols to show them. In his bag, he carried ornaments of a fir tree, a star, a candle, a wreath, an image of himself, a holly leaf, a gift, a candy cane, an angel and a bell’ children will remember these for the rest of their lives.
As he hung each ornament on the Christmas tree, he spoke of the meaning each one has…
The Fir Tree is pure green in color all year long, evergreen, and depicts the everlasting hope of mankind. All the needles point to heaven, making it a symbol of a person’s thoughts and prayers turning toward heaven.
The Star is the brilliant star, the heavenly sign of promises long ago, the star that led the Wise Men to the Christ Child. God promised a Savior and the star was the sign of fulfillment of that promise.
The Candle represents Christ as the light of the world and when we see the candle glowing we are reminded of Him who takes away our darkness.
A Wreath, one continuous circle and evergreen, symbolizes the eternal nature of His never ceasing love.
St. Nikolaus is an image of Himself and reminds children of generosity and good will toward all people.
A Holly Leaf represents immortality. It reminds us of the crown of thorns worn by Jesus Christ and the berries represent the blood shed by Him.
The Gift reminds us God gave us his only begotten Son. Like the Wise Men who brought gold, frankincense and myrrh, we should give gifts in the same spirit; freely and from our heart. Select this link to view our Miniature Ornaments.
