This ornament is 4½ inches tall and 2 inches wide and shows the 18th Hole with the ball just short of the hole as a friendly Gopher looks on. The green appears to be at the top of a hill and on the side of the hill is written “I’M AT MY BEST WHEN I’M TEE-D OFF!” The green and the side of the hill are sprinkled with iridescent green glitter. Christmas Spider Story.
Proud of her Christmas tree, an elderly woman left to attend Christmas Eve Services. While away, a white spider spiraled the tree marveling at the decorations. Realizing he left his webbing all around the tree, he scurried away. Shortly afterwards, Santa arrived. Knowing the lady would be devastated by the spider’s unwelcome contribution, he added glitter to all the webbing on the tree and created a shimmering sight to behold. Holly Information.
Holly, with its red berries, dark glossy green leaves, and thorny tips was a symbol of life in the bleak chill of winter. The bright colors of the holly made is a natural symbol of rebirth and life in the winter whiteness of northern Europe. The appearance of the flaming red holly berries opened the season of feasting and good cheer. Also, in late December, German villagers would traditionally place holly around the interior of their dwellings to ward off bad winter weather and unwanted spirits. In early years, Father Christmas often decorated his hood with holly, which represented the crown of thorns that Jesus wore when he was crucified, and the red berries were symbolic of the blood he shed. The Wooden Church Crusade
When Germany was divided after World War ll, Baron Henning Von Royk-Lewinski and Richard Kinzer, the former president of Burlington Mills, founded the Wooden Church Crusade, a charitable organization established to build churches in war torn areas of West Germany. It was their goal to build as many churches as there were American States at that time and when completed their efforts resulted in more than 25 churches being built. They wanted the ringing of the bells in these churches to be a reminder to everyone in the Western communities that with God came peace, and the bells would also toll loudly enough to give those across the Eastern border hope for such peace. Every church has become a symbol for the solidarity between the United States of America and former Western Germany in the fight against communism and the fight for peace.
