The Bethlehem Star.
The Star of Bethlehem, also called the Christmas Star, is a star in Christian nativity tradition that revealed the birth of Jesus to the magi, Wise Men, and later led them to Bethlehem. According to the Gospel of Matthew, the magi were men "from the east" who were inspired by the appearance of the star to travel to Jerusalem in search of the King of the Jews. There they met King Herod of Judea, who advised them that the child they sought was in Bethlehem, a nearby village. The magi then went to Bethlehem, found Jesus and his mother, paid him homage, worshipped him, gave gifts, and then returned to their "own country". Many Christians regard the star as a miraculous sign given by God to mark the birth of the Christ. Select this link to view our Nativity Christmas Ornaments.

The Christmas Star
The star symbolizes the star that appeared, quite miraculously, in the eastern sky at the birth of Jesus. The star is believed to have guided shepherds and the magi to the newborn babe. Select this link to view our Five Pointed Gold Star.
The Christmas star or star of Bethlehem continues to decorate churches and houses as part of traditional Christmas celebrations. Select this link to view our Gold Filigree Star.

Star Ornament History.
Sparkling and twinkling stars have always fascinated mankind. Infinitely far away, they lead us through the dark night, as did the Star of Bethlehem that showed the Magi the way to the manger where Jesus was born. Traditionally, stars are placed on top of the Christmas tree to help us remember the significant roles stars have played in Christian history. As a symbol of guidance and faith, stars are one of the oldest Christmas ornaments. Select this link to view our Gold Capiz Star.

Gold.
Gold is the most malleable and ductile metal. A single gram can be beaten into a sheet of one square meter, or an ounce into 300 square feet. Gold leaf can be beaten thin enough to become translucent. The transmitted light appears greenish blue, because gold strongly reflects yellow and red. Gold readily forms alloys with many other metals. These alloys can be produced to increase the hardness or to create exotic colors. Gold is a good conductor of heat and electricity, and is not affected by air and most reagents. Heat, moisture, oxygen, and most corrosive agents have very little chemical effect on gold, making it well suited for use in coins and jewelry. Gold flake was used by the nobility in Medieval Europe as a decoration in foodstuffs and drinks, in the form of leafs, flakes or dust, either to demonstrate the host's wealth or in the belief that something that valuable and rare must be beneficial for one's health.
Gold can be made into thread and used in embroidery. Gold is ductile and malleable, meaning it can be drawn into very thin wire and can be beaten into very thin sheets known as gold leaf.
