Our Army Holiday Stockings
are 18 inches as measured from upper left corner of cuff down to the toe. These Army Christmas Stockings have a burgundy velvet hanging loop. They are decorated with images of a beautifully decorated Christmas Tree with several nicely wrapped Christmas gifts underneath. Below the tree and extending along from the heel of the Army Holiday Stocking to the toe are five lighted candles and a garland of holly and berries with gold ornaments and red poinsettias nestled in. In the upper part of the toe are two candy canes with the US Army Logo between them, next to the logo are the words “GO ARMY” in white block letters. At the top of the Army Christmas Stockings and to the right of the Christmas Tree are two pictures. The top picture is of Santa Claus visiting our Troops, the lower one is of three Army Soldiers. There is a yellow “Support Our Troops” ribbon on the upper left corner of the top picture and on the lower right corner of the lower picture. The background is olive drab camouflage. The cuff of the Stocking is soft plush white and can be personalized. Below the cuff is a burgundy strip with “Happy Holidays” embroidered in white thread. Christmas Stocking.
Christmas stocking is an empty sock or sock-shaped bag that children in the United States and some other cultures hang on Christmas Eve so that Santa Claus can fill it with small toys, candy, fruit, coins, or other small gifts when he arrives. These small items are often referred to as stocking stuffers or stocking fillers. In some Christmas stories, the contents of the Christmas Stocking are the only toys the child receives at Christmas from Santa Claus. Other presents are wrapped up in wrapping paper. Tradition in western culture dictates that a child who behaves badly during the year will receive only a piece of coal. By tradition, the stocking is hung on the fireplace, but, since many modern homes do not have fireplaces, stockings may be hung in almost any location. The tradition started up in Germany. One traditional practice is to reserve the stocking for five gifts that stimulate each of the five senses, for example: Something to eat, like fruit or candy. A toy or other item that makes a noise (this can even include nuts to crack). An item that is visually pleasing in any way like jewelry, cuff-links or a coloring book. Santa’s Elves.
Santa has many helpers, called Elves. They live with him and Mrs. Claus at the North Pole and work all year long to help Santa get ready for his big night. Santa’s Elves wear their favorite costume that includes red and green outfits with striped socks. Their shoes curl up at the toes and their hats are similar to Santa’s but the pointed top stands up and they have bells on the toes of their shoes and the end of their hat. These elves help Santa by checking the toys and gift wrapping them. They also pack all of the toys and goodies into his toy bag.
There are elves assigned to sort all the mail and print all the emails that come into the North Pole all year long so that Santa can keep his list up to date. There are elves who take care of Santa’s sleigh and feed and care for Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Donner, Blitzen, Cupid, Comet, and Rudolph. They polish all the reindeer sleigh bells and make sure that every child will hear them ring on Christmas Eve. While Santa is making his rounds on Christmas Eve some of the elves keep Mrs. Claus company. They make lots of hot chocolate and play games until Santa comes home. Each year Santa assigns certain elves to keep track of who has been naughty and who has been nice. This is the biggest job of all and takes a lot of time and patience.
