Baby Jesus lies in his crib on an antiqued white blanket with an white dress on. He has his hands outstretched. His crib measures 5” by 3.5”. Mary kneels before Jesus in an antiqued burgundy gown with an blue shawl. She also has a white mantle over her head. Mary is 8” tall. Joseph, 11” tall, stands in a white tunic with an antiqued brown cape. He has a white mantle around his head and holds a staff in his left hand. King Balthazar, 7.5”, kneels before Jesus in an antiqued tan tunic with a blue and red striped belt. His cape is green yellow with gold trim. His mantle is an antiqued red and orange color. He wears a gold crown and has a mahogany urn with gold detail filled with myrrh. King Gaspar, 11”, is wearing a rust colored tunic with a denim blue cape with gold trim. His crown is gold with matching denim blue in the center. He holds a rust colored with gold detail chalice filled with frankincense. The Christmas Rose.
Christmas Rose is an English plant that is regarded as a true Christmas flower. It is sometimes called the Snow or Winter Rose. It blooms in the depths of winter in the mountains of Central Europe. Legend links it with the birth of Christ and a modest shepherd maiden named Madelon. As Madelon tended her sheep one cold and wintry night, wise men and other shepherds passed by the snow-covered field, where she was, with their gifts for the Christ Child. The wise men carried the rich gifts of gold, myrrh and frankincense and the shepherds, fruits, honey and doves. Poor Madelon began to weep at the thought of having nothing to offer, not even a simple flower for the Newborn King, as she was very poor indeed. And as she stood there weeping, an angel saw her sorrow, and brushed aside the snow at her feet to reveal a most beautiful white flower tipped with pink, the Christmas rose.
