Our Snowman Stocking Holders
stand 5¼ inches tall. The hanging Hook is attached to the bottom of the Christmas Stocking Holders and hangs down 1¼ inches in the center front. There are two Snowmen standing behind several colorfully wrapped gifts. The tallest Snowman Christmas Figurine is wearing a black top hat with red brim and red mittens. The other snowman has midnight blue mittens. Both have carrot noses and black, coal like, dots for buttons, eyes and mouth. The gifts are wrapped in turquoise, chartreuse and light fuchsia and each is tied with gold glitter bows. Snowman Information.
Long ago, when toys were scarce and the closest neighbors could be miles away, children looked forward to the year’s first snowfall with great anticipation. This wonderful gift from heaven afforded them a chance to go sledding, but even more exciting, it gave them the opportunity to create a new companion, their very own snowman!
Each of the jolly fellows had its own distinct expression and life expectancy. With a carrot from the pantry, coal from the furnace, twigs from the yard, an old hat and sometimes a pipe borrowed from Grandfather, a child would magically build a snowman. Their man of snow would disappear when the weather warmed, but lived on in childhood memories.
Our snowy friends dance and that only children are able to see them. After a snowman has been built and left alone outdoors in the frigid air, he begins to come to life! The snowman dances to amuse and captivate the children who watch, for it brings happiness to his rather short life. So during Christmas, if your children seem to be staring out the window in a daze, do not worry, most likely a dancing snowman is entertaining them.
During the winter months, the snowman stands in the garden with his heart full of joy and snowflakes dancing around him. Children, dressed in warm winter jackets and thick wooly hats, laugh and throw snowballs. The snowman is the center of fun and games.
Unfortunately, winter ends, and spring arrives again. The children begin to desire the warm summer sun and hardly pay attention to the snowman. His heart becomes sad, and tears begin to roll down his cheeks. Soon, the tears gradually dry up. The next day, the snowman will disappear from the garden. Legend of The Candy Cane.
Candy Canes are a stick of striped, hard candy bent into a hook at one end. They have been associated with Christmas for over three centuries. Legend attributes the origins of the candy cane to the choirmaster of cologne Cathedral in the 1670’s. Bothered by the noise of children attending the church’s nativity scene, he had candies made up in the shape of a shepherd’s crook and gave them to the young children to encourage them to be quiet. Candy Cane.
The candy cane to many is a delicious Christmas treat. Centuries ago, a simple candy maker needed to create a perfect gift for the King. The candy was shaped into an upside down “J” in order to represent the Good Shepherd’s staff. However, the candy maker wanted it to mean more. He added white and red stripes. The white represented the birth of Christ and the red would stand for the blood Jesus shed. The candy maker knew this would be the most perfect gift the King had ever received.
