The Star.
The star symbolizes the star that appeared, quite miraculously, in the eastern sky on the birth of Jesus Christ. The star is believed to have guided shepherds and the magi, who were the three wise men from the East, to the newborn king. One wonders whether the star that shined that night was any different from those of today. The star was indeed a strange star and people continue to believe that a miracle occurred at the birth of Christ. Select this link to view our Gold and Cream Ornaments.

Christkind
The Christkind or “Christ Child” represents a very special character in old German legend. The Season of Advent transpires and with it children’s excitement grows. Each day a new hidden door of the Advent calendar is opened to reveal special treats. The end of the calendar always brings the question to all children whether this special fairy of Christmas will grant the wishes of rocking horses, teddy bears and other gifts expressed in their Christmas lists. The Glass Holy Cross
The holy cross symbolizes Christ’s redemption and is the universal sign of Christianity. There are many variations of this symbol. Traditionally, the cross is a symbol associated with Easter. Although Christmas celebrates Christ’s birth, in German homes at the turn of the century it was believed that the Christmas tree was not complete without the inclusion of a cross ornament. Thus, the decorated tree reminded celebrants not only of Christ’s birth, but also of his death and resurrection. Select this link to view our Crystal Christmas Ornaments.

Poinsettia
In some villages across the world, it is customary to leave a gift in the church on Christmas Eve for the Baby Jesus. A long time ago in Mexico, a young child was very poor and did not have a gift to give. He prayed for an answer to his problem. God looked down and saw how upset this small child was and so he answered his prayer. Where the humble child knelt a flower of vibrant color bloomed. The flower blossomed in the shape of a star with leaves of an amazing red. This flower became the child’s gift. Later it became known as the “Flower of the Nativity.” Today the flower is called Poinsettia after Dr. Joel Robert Poinsett, and American Ambassador to Mexico who introduced it to the United States during the 1800’s.
