Our decorative folding screen is 12 inches across and 9 inches tall. The folding screen consists of three snowmen connected by a hinge so that the snowmen on the ends fold in and out. The first snowman is wearing a red and white checked scarf and matching stocking hat with a white pompom and white cuff with a red zigzag decoration through the middle. This snowman has a white glove with red checks. In the center of this snowman is a small snowman with a red scarf with white dots and a white glove with red stripes. The snowman in the center has a red and white checkered scarf, red top hat with red and white checkered band and red gloves with white dots and is holding a candy cane. The snowman on the right end is wearing a red scarf with white stripes, a white stocking hat with red stripes and white pompom and white cuff with red dots and a white glove with red dots. In the center of this snowman is a small snowman with a white and red checked scarf, red ear muffs and a white glove with red stripes.

Long ago, when toys were scarce and the closest neighbors could be miles away, children looked forward to the year’s first snowfall with great anticipation. This wonderful gift from heaven afforded them a chance to go sledding, but even more exciting, it gave them the opportunity to create a new companion, their very own snowman!
Each of the jolly fellows had its own distinct expression and life expectancy. With a carrot from the pantry, coal from the furnace, twigs from the yard, an old hat and sometimes a pipe borrowed from Grandfather, a child would magically build a snowman. Their man of snow would disappear when the weather warmed, but lived on in childhood memories.
Our snowy friends dance and that only children are able to see them. After a snowman has been built and left alone outdoors in the frigid air, he begins to come to life! The snowman dances to amuse and captivate the children who watch, for it brings happiness to his rather short life. So during Christmas, if your children seem to be staring out the window in a daze, do not worry, most likely a dancing snowman is entertaining them.
During the winter months, the snowman stands in the garden with his heart full of joy and snowflakes dancing around him. Children, dressed in warm winter jackets and thick wooly hats, laugh and throw snowballs. The snowman is the center of fun and games.
Unfortunately, winter ends, and spring arrives again. The children begin to desire the warm summer sun and hardly pay attention to the snowman. His heart becomes sad, and tears begin to roll down his cheeks. Soon, the tears gradually dry up. The next day, the snowman will disappear from the garden.

History of the Modern American Santa Claus Born in the United States of mixed ethnic and religious heritage, Santa Claus embodies the American ideal of the nation as a great melting pot of cultural identities. Santa Claus became an important folk figure in the second half of the nineteenth century, about the time when Americans were beginning to celebrate Christmas in large numbers. Santa Claus bears a good deal of resemblance to his closest relative, the old European gift bringer St. Nicholas. Indeed “St. Nick” serves as one of Santa’s nicknames.
Many popular songs tell of his North Pole and Christmas Eve activities. Nearly every American child can tell you that Santa is a plump, old man with a white beard who wears a baggy red suit and cap trimmed with white fur. Many send letters to his North Pole workshop describing the gifts they would like to receive for Christmas. They eagerly await Christmas Eve, when he loads his sled with toys for good girls and boys and flies around the world, sliding down chimneys to place the presents under decorated Christmas trees. As if to confirm this Christmas fairy tale, men in Santa suits regularly appear on street corners, at office parties, and in department and toy stores around Christmas time.
