Angels.
Angels are emissaries from God who play an important role in the Nativity. Gabriel begins the story by announcing the remarkable birth of two babies. One of the babies would be born to a couple thought to be too old to have children and would be named “John” and was later known as John the Baptist. The second baby would be born to a young, unwed woman named Mary who is engaged to a man named Joseph. The angel tells Mary and Joseph that the baby will be the Holy Son of Heavenly Father and will save the world and will be named “Jesus”. After the child Jesus is born the angel announces this special event to the shepherds and the Three Wise Men. When Herod tries to have the child killed, an angel warns the little family to flee to Egypt and tells them when it is finally safe to return.
Angels have been used as symbols of Christmas in figurines, ornaments, tree toppers, Christmas cards and even Christmas cookies. One of the most popular uses for angels at Christmas is to hang them above your nativity stable. Another popular usage of angels at Christmas is in music. There are countless songs from all over the world depicting angels heralding the birth of the Christ Child. Some of these songs include; from France “Les Anges Dans Nos Campagnes”, which has been translated into English as “Angels From The Realms of Glory.” From Moravia “Angels and Shepherds.” From England, “Angels We Have Heard on High“, “Hark The Herald Angels Sing“, and “While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks By Night.” From America, “It Came Upon The Midnight Clear.” Check out our Guardian Angel Figurines for the holidays.
History of the Advent Wreath.
The wreath is an ancient symbol of victory and the greenery represents everlasting life.
The Advent wreath was usually constructed of pine boughs, to which candles are attached. The Advent wreath was invented by the reforming Lutheran pastor Johann Hinrich Wichern. In Hamburg, in 1833, Wichern opened a Rauhe Haus, or ‘Rough House’, the house sheltered orphaned and neglected children. To make the Christmas story have more meaning for the children, every night of Advent, he would tell the children stories, pray with them and light a candle in the wreath. To accommodate the candles a wheel shaped chandelier was built and evergreens were twined around it. Visitors and supporters of the House were impressed by the display and the custom soon spread. Those who imitated it reduced it in size to four candles, one for each week of Advent. Many churches and homes mark the progress of advent by lighting on additional candle a week until on the final Sunday all four are alight.
The candles represent the coming of Jesus, who was the Light of the World. It was once customary for someone named John or Joan to be the first to light them, because John the Baptist was the first to see the fire of divinity in Jesus and John the Evangelist began his gospel by referring to Jesus as the Light.
The worlds largest Advent Wreath is in Munster, Germany and takes up a whole city block. Donot forget to check out all of our Artificial Christmas Wreaths and Pre-lit Christmas Wreaths for the holidays.
All I want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth.

Danny Kaye, the Andrews Sisterss and Nat King Cole have all recorded it. It became a top ten hit again in 1955 when it was sung by seven year old Barry Gordon.
